By joining a forestry association you get a membership card that gives you a discount at selected companies, a newsletter and other materials providing education and practical information and a chance to socialise, and you help support reforestation in Iceland.
Annual membership fees vary between different forestry associations but are usually in the range of 2-5 thousand ISK.

Membership card
The membership card is now issued electronically (on mobile). A download link will be emailed to the provided email address. The card is stored in a so-called wallet in the phone.
If you have an Apple phone, use the Apple Wallet app that is already installed. Open the phone camera and scan the QR code in the e-mail. If you view the e-mail on the phone all you have to do is click on the link in the e-mail and follow the instructions there.
If you have an Android phone, you need to start by downloading the SmartWallet app. You can then open the camera inside the app (by clicking the + button) and scan the QR code in the email. If you view the e-mail on the phone all you have to do is click on the link in the e-mail and follow the instructions there.
This is easy to do, but if you don’t feel up to it you can ask a friend / child / grandchild for help!
